wow! we think alike, that was just on my mind, i was more thinking of the industrial big ones where you throw paint in the wind and let it splatter on a canvas.

Yep. Fan art! Funny thing is the encircled "Y" shape makes me think of one of the older municipal symbols of Chicago. You see a similar shape everywhere in Chicago, especially on landmarks, and it represents the old center of the city, located at the point where the North and South branches of the Chicago River converge with the main body, forming a distinct (now completely urbanized and obscured) Y-shape. That has nothing to do with this shot (and it's a gorgeous shot) but at the same time, any excuse to unload a bit of Chicago trivia is always welcome. I like this. Fan Art indeed!
