Description
When we moved here in 1966, this old store was still in business. It was about a mile from the farm. I remember feeling like I was in an old movie while I explored this wonderful store. As I drive by it now, I still hear the old farmers talking about cows and such. What a wonderful time it was.

Sadly too much of the old and better times and places in America now lies wounded and dying... too sad that few can't still hear the voices of the ghosts from the past... I too grew up in the rual and small town areas where the memories echo sweetly in these cruder present times.

The good old days. :)

We went to my home town earlier this spring. So many changes, but it's still thriving. I could still navigate the town, but there was so much that was new and different. Nothing stays the same ...

Sad. The folks are long gone, the remains of the building stand, for a while yet. Rural America, the REAL America where people can think, are independent, hard working, friendly and open, helpful. Though I've mostly lived in large towns/cities, I still love the small towns. Real, genuine people. A pity so many are gone or have moved to the cities for work. I've seen the same happen in Sweden, England and other western countries. A sad but beatiful photo.

It's great that you can take a photo of it now, just in case it ever gets taken down. I love this kind of old place. PS.Those yellow headed blackbirds live in marshes and around still ponds with lots of reeds and bullrushes or cat tails. Thanks.
