Just about recovered ... having spent some 30 hours covering almost a thousand houses collecting pennies for the Savation Army. Not sure how many miles, but I could do with a new pair of knees! Not all counted yet, but I think I've collected about £600. Didn't get a reply at every house, had a few refusals, but met some very nice people again. (Most I ever collected on this round was £850, a couple of years ago; but money is tighter now.)
So that's it until Christmas, when I shall go into town and stand with my collecting tin while the Band plays Christmas Carols (which, oddly enough, include "Jingle Bells"!)
