Computer geek extarodinaire, I love to tinker with gadgets and tech items to get them to do what I want. I'm either logically artistic or artisically logical. I'm also rude, crude, semi-barbaric, socially unacceptable, and totally psychotic. On the bright side - I am potentially harmless. I'm currently trying to write some short stories about the fae as well as a novel on those same fae as well as two other novels. The programs I have for photo and image editing are: Photoimpact from Ulead, Adobe Photoshop 7 and Corel Paint Shop Pro 2X. Recently I've added DAZ Studios as well as Terragen, Blender and Google Sketch to my list of programs crowding my hard-drive. All this and much more on an old Pentium III 450 with 396 Megs of memory and operating Windows XP. It does get interesting at time.As of December 26, 2008, I have added Vue 7 Pioneer to my list of reason of why I'm going insane.
As of January 2010 I upgraded to a new HP 2 dual core processor with 6 gigs onboard mem with 4 gig powerboost and 2.07 terabytes of Hard drivesMy email is faemike55@gmail.com

I lived in the small "fairy tale" town of Český Krumlov for a few months longer than I'd anticipated, and one of the things I remember about my life there (and one of the zillions of little things that I miss about the place) is the mist on the Vltava river in the mornings, especially in late summer/early fall: when the mushrooms were in season and people were out, rather casually pretending not to gather them. The mist was quite fantastic, and I lived in the old part of town, the Medieval part, almost within the castle walls. I'd actually stayed a few nights in the old gate house (the key to my room was longer than my hand and it looked as if it was hammered on a blacksmith's anvil. It was big, crude, and heavy! It was impossible to misplace! This image made me think of that, even though there was no castle with a big, looming tower composed of big, huge bricks, covered in stucco that was painted to resemble bricks. I suspect that town and this image are linked--at least in my mind--because of the mist on the water. It's such a simple thing, really: a matter of temperature differentials, and yet that simplicity is also what give it the intrinsic beauty it possesses, but then when all is said and done, it's the simple things in life that are the most important. Mist on the water. The sound of someone in the distance, singing an old song. Insects going about their affairs. Old women, in the morning, staring out of their apartment windows, still wearing their "morning hair" and drinking tea, or coffee, or even a mug of that biologically active brew that smells of yeast and is good for the stomach. Little things. They're even better if you get to share them with friends, especially "local" friends in a "foreign" country: friends who played host to you the night before and shared their cramped little bed, and made sleep sounds in Czech! Ah...memories. I love the way this image evoked all of that, and how it evokes other things as well, especially stories. I'd love to see something like this on the way to work. Where I work, however, is well within the heart of Chicago, and so the beauty there is a bit different than the beauty in this photo. Oh well...at least I get to see it now. I love the quality of the light, the mysterious posts, and a bit of the mist rising as if taking on a shape that might be that of a human, a ghost, or a water-sprite of some sort. The light is fantastic.

wow Mike, spectacular photo! My fave time for picture taking is evening when the light goes all golden .. and my second fave is early morning, though that doesn't happen too often.
