Description
Yaz lived with Nick and Lily, as did Ezza and Iris. He took care of the house, the yard and the flower and vegetable gardens, and grew grapes out in the back. From these he made wonderful wines. He also took care of their adopted daughter Noel. To say Yaz had a green thumb was an understatement. They fed themselves out of the vegetable garden and off the fruit trees. Under the grape arbor, he grew medicinal herbs for Cass...and whoever else might need them.
He taught Noel as much as her seven year old brain could absorb about plants, trees, grasses. After a morning of picking weeds and pruning the roses, they sat down in the big gazebo and Noel just had to tease Frank, with offering him non-existent treats. "You be careful there! He's going to get frustrated. I wouldn't do that again," Yaz warned her. Eventually she sat down and just petted him. Frank was her dog. Yaz bought him for her two years ago. He was a trained guard-dog.
Noel was an experiment. Saranta had been an experiment too, and things had gone well with Saranta, being raised more or less in the company of one of them (Arman as her brother). Noel was to be raised amongst them all, and be aware by degrees as to what they were and who she was. Lex taught her numbers and proper language skills, as well as a little cooking. She was already reading the classics by the time she was six, and already had a grasp of multiplication and division. Lily taught her compassion, and social etiquette. Nick taught her fairness and values. Ezza taught her about the weather and machines. Iris taught her about colors, scents, and sounds. Iris liked to take her shopping too, but either Yaz or Ezza always accompanied them.
There was never a dull moment in Noel's day, nor theirs. She was a handful, but one Yaz cherished with all his heart. She was his 'other half'. He just had to wait for her to grow up. It wasn't always easy, but it'd be worth it. He'd learned to be patient in his long life. In the meantime, he was more than content to be her guardian, teacher and protector.

No, not going back to the story. This is just a mini-story in a few shortish bits that may explain a few things left undone...for the curious.
'Gazebo' is from DM's Fantasy Musings (RMP). Sun Wall from DM's Sun Edge (RMP). Flowers are DAZ environment parts and pieces. 'Frank' is Mil Dog, German Shepherd version. Teddy bear (Ms. Violet) is from Guderun in the Freebies. Great little bear :)
Thank you so much for dropping by, your comments and favs dear friends. They are much appreciated.
Sorry if Yaz looks stoned Ute. Then again, maybe he is :) The herb in question was used for thousands of years (successfully) to treat several ailments. It has recently been found to cause cancerous cells to eat themselves and make them go away (in Spain, no less). But unfortunately it's lumped in with a lot of really truly bad things by our federal goverment and many others. They'd rather sell us Rx drugs that really ARE bad for us and cause worse problems. My father used to have to take a heart medication that was basically rat poison - Warfarin.
Have a lovely Friday my friends!

Excellent! The magic of plants... A lot of prescription drugs are based from plants too. I would rather use plant based, rather than synthetic ones. And poisons... But then again some plants are toxic too. One of those damned if you do, and damned if you don't. Natural has to be better than created by man.

I was reading the narrative with the thought "Yeah, this is quite nice..." and then I got to the bit where you said that the people were "experiments". Huh? So, what's going on here?? Is there a backstory that I need to check out?

Don't get me started on "Big Pharma"! Enjoyed this mini novella greatly. A fun image too. Frank looks like he is about to just pounce on here in his frustration! :~)
