At first I thought I might be in the wrong bar. When my buddy calls and wants to meet for a drink, college fern bars were not our usual haunts. He had mentioned that we might be meeting up with his daughter and her new "significant other". I have known Sarah since the day she was born and was curious. She was now 22 and working on her Psych Masters; I was hoping her usual taste in boyfriends (and men in general) had improved. Scanning the bar for my friend, my eyes locked on the gorgeous creature pictured here. How long I stared, I have no idea. Next I knew Sarah had my arm and I realized she was talking to me. "Uncle Rhett, you're staring and your mouth is hanging open. Come on, we're over here." Taking my arm, she led me over to a table as the creature from the bar moved to intercept us. Her wine glass in her right hand, she handed me a glass with her left, "Bourbon and a splash, right?" Sarah made introductions, "Uncle Rhett...Rachel, my new,uh, partner I guess you'ld say. Rachel, my infamous Uncle Rhett." How long I flustered and sputtered the conversation, I have no idea, but the evening eventually turned out to be quite pleasant. Rachel agreed with Sarah that I should immortalize the moment, and thus this work. Rachel says she is flattered but I feel it doesn't do her justice. What's that old line about assumptions? Oh!! And very odd that my old pal Zigzag321 (the hermit) posted one today using the same set. Great minds....... :)
