Description
No, this IS a genuine photo, not manipulated. If I'd set out to get this effect deliberately I probably wouldn't have been able to! I've just been on my first cruise - EVER. I've always loved ships and boats and now I'm retired I frequently hang around marinas, harbours and docks pointing my camera at what I think of as IFTs (Interesting Floating Things) but I don't have much money and I'd thought that I'd never be able to stump up the cash to go on one of the cruise ships I've been taking photos of for many years - but somehow it finally happened. It was just a "2 night stand" on one of the smaller ships - across the English Channel, along the coast for a couple of countries and then a more prosaic cross-Channel regular shuttle ferry back to the UK - but I was in heaven. Not so much for the social life on board (I'm not one for dancing, bingo or being herded around and told what to do and when by some professionally enthusiastic entertainment organiser), but just to be ON a ship at all. So there I am, an elderly woman on a cruise ship in Southampton Docks, acting like a little kid in great excitement, rushing from one side to the other on the upper deck snapping away in every direction at anything I can think to take a photo of while waiting to sail. Part of the ship's deck where I was standing had glass panels along it. I was standing at a slight angle right next to one of them at the end of the row so I didn't notice that the ship's bridge was reflected in it until I got back home 3 days later and started to edit and upload all the photos I'd taken. I thought when I saw it that this photo sums up my idea of a "dream holiday".

Wow, even from the thumbnail I thought it was an excellent manipulation and I was already thinking of doing something inspired from it!
