... it is not. Araneus diadematus, or common UK garden spider, this is the Momma, who's twice the size of all the male suitors in my polytunnel, who have no idea what they are in for!
Difficult to photograph, as I usually try and tickle her when I go in to water my tomotoes, so she now scurrys under her favourite strawberry leaf when she first sees me!
Last post for a while as am away on my first & last holiday of the year next week; a cottage with a garden gate onto the beach in England's beautiful NW coast. Hoping for wildlife, sunsets, fair weather, a bit of golf, and regaining of perspective after a tough few months.

How beautiful her little head. I am surprised at only seeing 2 eyes. I assume the rest are under the hair or the back of the head. Very lovely macro.
