After seeing how her mother trained troops in boot camp, teenage Audria was determined not to let a sergeant break her. In the year and a half before she enlisted, she put herself on a rigorous exercise and sleep schedule similar to what she would experience in boot camp. Once she got in boot, she suffered injuries that she felt were minor enough to hide from her superiors. However, over the next five weeks, the injuries didn't go away and it came to a point when she collapsed during a combat simulation, and she was hospitalized. When she was released from medical care, Audria was given a severe tongue-lashing by her sergeant. Audria's concealment of her condition could have put her teammates and mission in jeopardy in a real combat situation. She was confined to barracks for a week, and put on latrine and dishwashing duty for the next. She also had to suffer when her superiors constantly exhorted her teammates to "never, ever, pull a Toulmin" all the way through graduation from boot. Having gotten through that embarrassment, Audria worked on her MOS certifications, and on gaining some respect from her superiors. After serving her first term, she attended Thaldine University to earn her engineering degree, all the while keeping herself in shape for her return to the army. She eventually became a drill sergeant, and then a combat sergeant during a rash of Hux invasions into Confederacy territory. She was asked to transfer to Company 26 and help rebuild that unit's reputation after the Elle Sadannys conspiracy plot. Like many others, Audria had her doubts about Miriya Han being allowed to serve in the reformed C26. However, Audria was determined to see the Company redeemed, and was quick to silence any grumblings among the troops. After a great deal of tension, Audria and Miriya became friends, since they had Thaldine University and a dark sense of humor in common. On the other hand, it's difficult for Audria to be a peacekeeper between Miriya and Fallon Peragus. Audria respects humanity as a species on the verge of interplanetary travel, but she feels it has no claim of sole ownership of the planet Mars, especially since no human has yet to physically explore it (as opposed to just using robots). However, she also feels that humanity isn't giving Earth's anthro population due respect. As for the question of whether the Confederacy might be too aggressive with its Great Expansion, she says that's for the politicians and voters to decide. She just follows orders according to the rule of law, and expects her subordinates to do likewise. As platoon sergeant, Audria reports directly to Captain Yuna Lund and her First Lieutenants Pamala Siegrist and Thora Habasil. She is often placed in charge of various missions. In combat situations her direct superior is Lt. Siegrist.
