Description

This handsome hoverfly is very similar in many ways to another species commonly known as a Drone-fly, which was also feeding on the Ageratums. These flowers have proved to be very popular and I shall definitely grow them again next year.

Wonderful shot Andrea. Another popular one is Rose bay willow herb, but very invasive as I am sure you know.

Awesome macro shot Andrea. So nice you have found a flower of interest to attract these beautiful flies. Sounds like you will have them return next Summer too.

Better and better. I've changed my mind. Never send your pictures to National Geographic. Once they found that you had taken these with a little DMC and captured better images than they do with their equipment costing ten of thousands they would probably hand themselves. Just trying to save lives.
