Description
This is a scene which I started 6 years ago and have been updating it ever since in new versions of Poser. It was a challenge to myself to recreate a painting of John William Godward called Dolce Far Niente. Google it to see the original.
The figure is a V3 and clothing, hair and props for it are no longer available. It uses dynamic hair for the carpet, dynamic clothing for the chiton. Most folds are done with procedural shading. The pond was edited with the grouping editor to fit my needs.
It is not an exact copy, but all the important elements are there (I think)
Now let's see what it will become in Poser 10.....

Lovely!!!!!

Beautiful Job! Everything works in this. The lighting sets off the vibrancy of the colors and the reflection. The relaxed pose and expression make you feel the serenity of the figure with a slightly forlorn touch. Fabulous!

It is very well done. I thank you. 5+!!!

Thank you all for the comments. One secret to the colors is the use of a colored skydome. If you use IDL it projects some of the colors onto the scene. There is only 1 light here (the sun) and it is white. Of course I went for the colors of the original, so it gets a painterly feeling to it.

Just spotted this. Very nice work... the colours are awesome. A couple of minor suggestions for the Poser 10 version... I think the grass should be more visibly 3d in places, sticking up in front of, rather than a flatter texture, at the boundary with the stonework round the pond? Just a little perhaps, even if it is meant to be more trodden down. Either that, or perhaps make the ground texture more sparse, mediterranean "lawn" (i.e. more dry earth with just a little hint of grass), as I think it appears to be in the original painting? Also, I like the fish-themed mosaic and bas-relief sculpture, just visible on the outward facing side of the stone block, above the pond, in the original painting. That would be a good addition... although it would involve modelling of course.

Good suggestions. I had not revisited the grass plane problem in a long time and adding some grass at the edges is a good idea as well

Wonderful folds and such soft fluffy blanket.
