Description

Driftwood on the Pacific Coast. I love the look of a landscape in this, with the river and the hills.
Happy Birthday, Denise!

Ooh, what a great sweep of grain and form, and then those artfully placed rounded stones really finish it off well, like beauty spots! I thank you so much for this dedi, Tara, it's a magnificent piece of art!

Wow - and there's even a layer of clouds (shredded clouds, but clouds nonetheless) settling on the 'hills.' This is just too cool, Tara! It really does look like a river, complete with river rocks to stack.. Delightful!

What a dedication and image. I haven't started reading it yet, but I have Ursula K. LeGuin's book, Searoad, which is non-science fiction/non-fantasy (for the most part, though there might be some magical realism involved) and for some reason this is making me think of that! I think because it's a part of the same landscape, or maybe because there's a story here and I just have to sit still long enough for the wood or the pebbles or the sunlight to tell me what it is! Ah, but this is one of those photos that invites sitting still, especially since it's such a gorgeous landscape in precisely the way we should see a landscape...and that always happens when we see one where one isn't expected. Ah...landscapes are such intriguing things when you stop to look at them, especially when they're woodscapes! This is brilliant! Perfect. A favorite.

When I saw this, I thought of some of the landscape I have seen out west. It could be sand swept hills with a ravine at the bottom. I love this.
