Hi all: I started out as a painter, then switched to digital art after I saw some work in Bryce. Abandoned Bryce more or less when the Poser bug bit. I have always liked more realistic painting. I also have worked as a professional photographer and currently shoot with a Nikon SLR digital camera. What's nice is I could use all my 35 mil lenses with the digital. Happy rendering!! I'm married with two grown daughters and one grandson. Here I am on my new horse, Dylan.

Very nice image. Really I think it looks like a nice sunny day with some mist hanging in with the cool weather and maybe some warm water. Perhaps I've mentioned this, but gamma correction is turned on by default on your Vue camera. It did not used to be turned on by default in earlier versions. From Vue's main screen, go to File and scroll down to Options and click on that. On the General Preferences tab in the lower right you will see Gamma Options. Click on that and that will bring up the Gamma Options for your camera. UNCHECK the box in the upper left and save or restart if needed. Once you do this your Final Render lighting will look like your Preview Render lighting. When one renders at Preview level, gamma is not added to the image so one does not know the gamma level look until a Final Render is done. I don't know why that is. The default gamma level washes things out too much. If you have already done this, then you may have to adjust your light settings. Vue 9 and 10 made big improvements on the atmosphere and light generator so that light reacts to objects and the atmosphere like the real world. Light settings I used in Vue 7 do not look the same in Vue 9 or 10. My personal experience with Vue 8 was bad and luckily short, because 9 came out shortly after I had 8. The kinks in 8 were gotten rid of and the atmosphere editor was greatly improved.

Haven't got a clue about vue.. so to me it looks fine.. the washout effect?? gives this quite some depth of field.. some fine early morning mist on the lake!

Masterful creation. I wish I could do that in Vue. I am lousy at sculpting the landscape and can only dream of ever getting ecopainter. I have Vue 9 esprit, and they are now on 10 and do not even sell ecopainter 9. I have a bunch of modules for 9, but good old Vue makes you buy an upgrade for every one. The only way I could get all the stuff I had would be to get the Vue complete. They gave me Vue 10 esprit free, but of course it has no modules. Since all I can see in my future, is getting poorer as My Social Security get eaten away by inflation and the lack of workers now to pay for it. Since the damn politicians already spent all the money we put in for it. The USA is heading off the cliff no matter who gets elected, as the bottom line it spends way more than we make. Hech the damn Senate has caused the country to operate with out a budget. I hate to say it but it appears to me the Democrats do not know what a budget even is, and the Republican are afraid off causing a depression if they put the brakes on spending. I going to take it in the shorts either way. Sorry for the rant. Song? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTuIXtXUEw4

a beautiful one for sure :) And about the washed out look, the gamma stuff, Adorety said is one thing, the haze and mist settings in the atmo are another, and postwork i.e. adjusting levels and contrast is always an option you have. Another might be to have a look at the atmoeditor especially at the "sky, fog and haze" tab and the global settings of aerial perspektive: the higher the number there, the more misty and washed out it will look...so you could experiment with low values - even below 1 - there too :)

Gorgeous scene!! (Maybe just a tad washed out looking. Perfect Effects Free has a Faux HDR filter that might clear up the washed out look. Several other commercial products you could try.) Do so enjoy your Vue works, some amongst my all time favorites from your gallery.
