Description
It's still summer for a few days, a little early for fall colors. On the other hand, fall in the desert is a bit different from elsewhere, at least in some ways. In this case, we have a drought-deciduous plant that loses its leaves after it hasn't received any rain for a few days. This can happen several times a year. When the leaves turn yellow like in this photo, they drop off. This is Ocotillo, Fouquieria splendens. The picture was taken in the Tucson Mountains, Arizona, USA. (And if you want to see a more traditional fall, just drive for a half hour to an hour, up into the mountains, to view the Aspens.)

there is a dusk, sunset look to the image with the purple tone in the ground. Nice detail and seems like a relaxing place and time.

the Ocotillo has alwaysy been my favorite desert plant. I have been working with one for 5 years now trying to get it started. Stunning shot.
