Description
This is the pier on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain, north of New Orleans. It was cloudy and windy that day.
The lake is quite shallow. I was able to walk out in the water to the end of the pier.

in the late 1700's or early 1800's a man challenge another man to a dual. Now if you are challenge and do not accept it . It will look real bad for you. But the man took the challenge even thought he knew the man had fought a lot of duels and he never have. But he knew that the challenger would pick where and with what weapons the dual was to be fought. The Challenger pick Lake Pontchartrain 6 feet of water with 25 pounds sledge hammers. The man that made the challenge had to decline the fight as he was just five feet tall and the man he picked a fight with was well over six feet tall and very strong also. That is a true story of New Orleans. wonderful shot

I've heard so much about Lake Pontchartrain in various songs through the years & there's something I really like about the sound of that name, but I don't think I've ever seen a picture of it. Nice shot - it looks very turbulent & I could easily have been convinced that it was the ocean...
