Description

This is for Andrea (durleybeachbum), our resident bug lady. Several years ago my building was treated for termites. It worked very well. A big tent, a little gas, bye-bye termites. Unfortunately this left thousands of tiny termite corpses inside the walls. Someone had to eat them and colonies of ants volunteered for the job. I have been battling the little shits ever since. From March through June I had a non-life threatening medical issue which sapped my energy and kept me off Renderosity. But I still had the ants. After a minor operation I began to notice spiders in the corners of the ceilings in my kitchen and bathroom, the areas of greatest ant activity. I never saw more than a half dozen of them but, soon after they arrived, the ants disappeared. I didn't bother the spiders and they didn't bother me. Over time I became rather fond of them. The day after my doctor told me I was all better the spiders disappeared. Its as if they had packed their bags and caught a cab. And the oddest thing happened. I actually felt a sense of loss. Every so often I will see a few ants and the spiders will return until the ants, once again, are gone. Here is an image of the smallest of my eight legged guardians. It is half as large as the end of a pencil eraser.

The picture is so cool and fantastic and your narrative is interesting. It seems that the Spiders know you as a friend and were there to keep you safe and sound from the ants. you have some interesting friends Mark!

What a great capture and endearing story. Obviously, spiders consider you a good guy. In my house, spiders and geckos have diplomatic immunity.Even Cookie can not get fresh with them, because they are in charge of controlling insects.

What delicate translucent beauty this little person has! As you know, like Netot, I encourage these cleaning ladies in my house, especially in the pantry where they eat the feed moths that might get into the dog food sacks. A pity they don't eat mice, maybe I need some Chilean blue- kneed tarantulas! Thankyou fo this lovely creature, Mark, and the extraordinary story.

Sounds like a case for Winston 'The Wolf' Wolfe! the only Harvey Keitel, as we know him as the CLEANER, from both movies: 'Pulp Fiction' & 'Be Cool' ;) or like us here, we have also Geckos living with us, to do that job! In any case, they are being eradicated, which is a good thing, termites are also a pest in OZ - with some real horror stories! a very suitable dedi for Andrea, now I am wondering if her latest post 'POISON' would also work? - only joking!
