Description

I was out mowing when i just about came right in to this guy and scared the crap right out of me. These kind of spiders only show up in the fall and they have a huge body on them and will even plant their selves right at ur front door and u better always be looking cause they will walk right down ur face if not careful so i will try to get a better one of him when i can.

The shape almost looks like a black widow. I've had my best crop yet of black widows this year. They are everywhere.!!

Yikes Is this a black widow...if so, I'd stay away from it. Hard to see the color, there are brown ones too. I got bit by one of these and ended up in the hospital. You're brave to take a picture so close. Great capture...

excellent shot. I'm familiar with these and have several that build huge webs and guidelines on the front of the house and at the front door. As ominous as they seem, I've never been bitten but they do a marvelous job of eliminating flying bugs for which I'm grateful.

Very cool. It's not a Black Widow! LOL. It's an Argiope. Nothing to worry about! They do have venom, but are not aggressive and would only bite as a absolute last resort.

I don't really like black widows. It looks like one to me, but if it is a Argiope, so be it. We get BW's in Tucson a lot. I remember in high school asking my chemistry prof what we could use to kill them. He rubbed his hands and said "Oh, I knew I was going to make money on this." Then proceeded to give me a formula which kinda sounded like plastic and whatnot. He asked if I knew how to build it. I said no. He then told me it was the chemicals found in an old tennis shoe and suggested I get one and whack the spider with it. Nice image though.

Great silhoutte! Is not a B.W.Many spiders die due to their resemblance to a B.W.. In my case, spiders are welcomed to my house, because in my country only one species is dangerous.
