I took this below the bridge near an old university in Cape Girardeau Missouri approximately 200 years old and possibly was here at the time of the Louisiana Purchase in 1803 it is a hard wood and can grow from 300 to 400 years. they are commonly found in the forests of the Eastern USA

excellent capture, yes those trees are all over missouri, trees in my yard were 10' tall back in the early '60's now they are well over a 100' tall!:)*5

Another place I know very well. Great pic, lots of gorgeous homes and old bldgs. in the city. Sadly so many of them remain in disrepair. Attended the University there for a bit before going elsewhere. Pass through these sights every couple of weeks. I'm a bit jaded and don't even notice them anymore. Nice to be reminded that they are there and of their beauty.
