Description
The main square at the hamlet of Cermes is very small, and it is cut into two parts by the provincial road linking Bozen with Meran. You can see it on the left; the Townhall is close to the road, but not in the photo. On the right a beautiful fountain with the statue of a saint with a lamb or a sheep in his arms. I have no idea who he is, possibly a local saint. The two old ladies are typical of the old generation, both men and women who used aprons over the local costumes. The hand-made, often embroidered aprons of the costumes have been substituted by common kitchen aprons over department store clothes.

This is a wonderful capture of this lovely area Sandra, it looks like such a majestic setting. I especially like that little fountain with the statue of the Saint as well as that amazing stone street.

I love the intimate feeling of this shot. I can see that this is a smaller town...at least smaller than Chicago, simply because it feels intimate, even though its outside. I love the colors and the textures: the cobblestones, the two ladies, the warm colors...that fountain that seems to be intended for drinking, or at least filling drinking vessels. This is a great shot.
