Description

"Toketee" in the Chinook tongue means "Graceful", the falls are well known for it's columnar basalt framing. This two tiered fall drops over 120 feet(36.6 meters), fed by the North Umpqua river it is not effected by seasonal fluctuations as other creek fed waterfalls are. This is a three image vertical stitch, drastically reduced. Please zoom to enjoy some details of this graceful beauty. It was a steady light rain for this hike, but that did not dampen our spirits. A great weekend to all! To the kind souls that leave their mark whether a comment, rating, or save the image as a fav, you are very much appreciated, thank you!!! Thank you all that viewed my last image below. thumb_2370985.jpg

Are those "post piles" to either side or just the natural erosion of the water that causes the look of piles? I love the scoop worn behind where the falls meet the bottom. The stacks of wood on shore say a lot about the conditions here. Gorgeous shot!

Oh my God. Why is it that every time I see one of your pictures in the woods there I want to talk about how it is possible for Bigfoot to exist only not to have been discovered yet. :) LOL. The water is amazing, but I'm looking off into those trees in the distance and it's like it goes on forever so wild and thick, virtually impassable. Just the way it should be.

One of the few times I know exactly where you were standing. http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=2156282&user_id=4105&page=10&member&np I'll have to take another look at my pictures. The falls takes almost second place to the magnificent landscape around it. Excellent composition.

Amazing image. You sure get around to some beautiful places. I could see diving off the basalt columns into the pool.

What a wonderful falls, had to see more so I googled it and came up with this website, http://www.everytrail.com/guide/toketee-falls It has several of the falls on that river and video too. Have always wanted to see the oregon waterfalls, I have 2 large photo prints in the front room, but I never new that some were so accessible and describe as easy hikes. Thanks for the heads up of such natural and beautiful place.

Stunning and beautiful capture no doubt that the water is a bit on the chilly side - not for the casual swimmer
