Description

The 16th-century astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus was the first to present to the world a detailed and eventually widely accepted mathematical model supporting the premise that the Earth is moving and the Sun actually stays still, despite the impression from our point of view of a moving Sun. Many languages use the same inaccurate terms as English of "setting," "descending," or "sleeping," the origin of these terms tracing back to the beliefs of earlier cultures, which did not understand that the sun is standing still in relation to the solar system and not moving within Earth's sky. ZOOOOM for full flavour. Have a nice day.

I know it's true, but I always will think of the sun as "moving"...to give us our sunrises and sunsets. Lovely evening capture.

Nice shot, especially with that flock of birds to add additional interest. Of course, though each of us in some sense see ourselves as the center of our own universes, everything is constantly moving & spinning at huge speeds & it's a wonder that we aren't all dizzy & careening into each other all the time...
