Description

My image for Day of German Unity is an old watchtower. This photo I took on my excursions to an old Russian barracks in Berlin. Wünsdorf - the Forbidden City in GDR times. Militärtstadt the Soviet armed forces .... after the withdrawal of Russian troops in 1990, overgrown the former terrain and you can find fragments of the past (Urban Exploration)...decay germany

This speaks volumes about those earlier days, and perhaps looks even more simister with overgrown vegetation! Great photo!

Beautiful. I don't like barbed wire as a "thing that exists in the world", but I like the intricate patterns it forms here & how it's sharpness contrasts with the softness of the leaves & the light...

This has such a feel of history, of stories, times of strife and oppression. I adore this and wish I could also find such hidden and deteriorating pieces of history that spoke so loudly. Tremendous skill in this photography to get light and composition so well.

Outstanding image! I remember when the wall went up and how we would hear when each person who tried to escape over it was shot. A monument to a dead empire. Gives me the shivers. Hervorragende Bild!

Oh if walls could talk........... wonder if it has ghost at night haunting the place....it looks like something that time forgot all about........and the people forgot about it too....once it served it purpose why keep it up? just let nature and the weather and time take care of the otherworldly place....... If what this person says is true I know now it has ghost.... by wysiwig on Oct 3, 2012 Outstanding image! I remember when the wall went up and how we would hear when each person who tried to escape over it was shot. A monument to a dead empire. Gives me the shivers That gave me shivers reading it............now I know it has ghost....wonder how come no paranormal ghost hunting team has been here...... Where is this place...and what was it called..........and what all did it take care of... Now I am curious...wish you would send me a site mail on this............. what was the name of the place......?????????????? Another fav Hugs Susan.
