Description
This probably was a farm's main entrance on the main street, which is also the provincial road cutting the hamlet through. On the right the door leading to the living quarters, and a small porch where women could sit in the shadow during the good season, spinning, knitting, darning, or preparing vegetables for dinner. In the evenings, the men of the house spent some time smoking, drinking beer or schnapps, playing cards, etc. And both sexes were busy in gossiping and commenting about the passers-by. On the left there is the old door leading to a shelter which probaly was used to host either a cart, a buggy, a shay, or a tilbury. It looks it's not in use any longer today. The house door looks still in use, albeit rarely. The property develops along the slope of the hill and the new entrance for tractors and the like is on a level lower than the main street. On the wall there is a bent iron for torches. The doormats look like glued to the ground from usage and rough weather.
Thanks for your kind comments.

Could this be ripe for restoration..as they say. All your detail brings the scene to life. The tones are so subtle and many areas could be cropped for more images

Beautiful capture! Wonderful textures and muted colors. I love the beautiful patterns on soft colors painted by age on the walls. Very interesting information. I can picture the family and neighborhood activity here in former days.
