Description
"There ain't even anyone in the pub!" Conor exclaimed. His face was full of conflicting emotions, as if he didn't know whether to be glad about it or not. "Ya ken there's some'ut wrong when thar ain't noone in the pub."
"Aye, an' there's grass growin' round the smith's anvil there," Morgan pointed out.
"Where'd they all get off ta?"
"Ya ken what I do, lad...but there's somethin' you are fergettin'!"
"What's that?" Conor asked, his brows knit in consternation.
"Ya been livin' so long amongst 'em cos o' yer wife...an' I ain't blamin' ya fer that... but ya ferget what y'are. Yer fey lad. Ya ain't human. The mac Donough's were fey too, aye?"
"Aye...?" Conor stopped to think about what Morgan was saying. "Nahhhhh, ya donnae think...."
"I do, an' I do. 'Ow else would an entire village full o' people just disappear like thet!?" Morgan snapped his fingers. "Ain't no signs of a raid nor fire - nothin'. Ever'thing's just sittin' there like t'was when they all magically disappeared. Ya ken as well as me how our kin feel 'bout humans betrayin' us. Think about it whilst we get back home. I donnae wan' ta stay 'round here. We'll go home, have some supper an' think on it. Right?"
Conor seemed a bit dazed. "Whate'er ya say, Morgan. Sure."

Going to mostly try to alternate the stories until this one's done. This one'll be shorter than the one begun last night. Well, this is certainly a mystifying twist ;) Where did everyone go...and more importantly, do they yet live? Are they trapped forever in some strange fey dungeon, never to return to the land of men? Brillinat as always--love the dialogue and the imagery s golden, Questions... What is Morgan trying to convey to Conor by prodding him to "remember himself?" Is there some kind of underground stirrings of wars to come in which he may be divided (foreshadowing)?

How long has Connor been out of action?? Place is deserted and grass is growing up around the forge...? What is happening? (I also think that 'donnae' should be 'dinnae', but the vowel inflection may be different due to the time period)

Super excellent render! And I couldn't help thinking while I was reading that this is exactly why I'm prepared for The Zombie Apocalypse. LOL. For real too. It's like, I swear, I have this feeling I'm going to get up one morning and the whole world is going to be changed somehow. Just like this in some way. Freaky, I know, but I think it's really cool, too, how we're each and all affected differently by the same work. Very compelling tale!
