Description
I went hiking in the Superstition Mountains today and used the opportunity to get an updated self portrait. Canon Powershot SX130IS as usual on tripod with self timer. Camera was acting funny due to the heat, though it was only 101 today. I am going to be in heaven when I get my hands on a DSLR.

Cool looking image mate and there's some wonderful scenery by the looks of it. 101 would be hot enough I think :)

I'm with you, Dan, on that DSLR. I'll be dead also by the time I get one. Or maybe you didn't mean it quite like that. LOL You did a fine job here and the saguaro and mesquite and creosote growing in the background is great. Fills in the background nicely. So at 101 degrees, you must be experiencing a bit of a cool-down? BTW, what did you do to bloody up your arm? Bit of a trickle going there. Remember if you are out there and need to stem the flow of blood, stuff the wound in gun powder and light it. Cauterizes the wound quickly, if not painfully, and promotes healing. I've seen it done many times and it works.

Thanks PK. I didn't mean I would be dead, but at this stage in life, I cannot rule that out.LOL Everything growing out here will poke holes in you. I do not remember what it was that did that, but I will have to be bleeding much, much more before I try that gunpowder trick.LOL

Cool capture. Hope you carried enough water and had an alternative plan on place for a 'just in case' scenerio. In 1978 my girlfriends brother's son, 17 years old, got stuck in a wash close to Lake Pleasant. They made a cardinal sin and left the vehicle to go for help. Next day they found them, the son was dead and his friend had brain damage. the temperature on that day was 99F at Phoenix Sky Harbor.
UVDan
Thanks junge1. I always try to carry 4 litres of water and extra clothing in case I have to spend the night. In addition I carry dried fruit and MRES. I am sorry about your girlfriendss brother's son and his friend.
Osper
Yeah but did you find the gold?????
UVDan
No gold Osper. Just golden butterflies.

What a wonderful self-portrait, Dan! It's so nice to see the warm-hearted, and talented artist behind such beautiful artwork! I like the shirt and the expression on your face! Excellent background, and that scenery looks like it would be truly an adventure to explore! So glad you shared!
