I was fortunate to spend a weekend in New York City recently! And while I did see some enormous cheesecakes, I didn't see any especially big apples. (Wah wah waaah.) I won't bore you with tons of vacation photos, but I thought I might share a couple special ones. I stayed with an old friend of mine who lives there now. He was able to show me some interesting sites that most tourists don't know about. In particular, this nice view. He told me the best view of Manhattan was from Brooklyn, and here we are. The Brooklyn bridge is directly to the right of the shot. The buildings are "downtown," on the southern tip of the island. The water in the foreground is the East River. There were only about a dozen people in this riverfront park at the time. Now, contrast the lunacy that is Times Square at that hour... I think I like this place better.
