Description

As soon as the Jacarandas started to blossom, those gregarious Blue-faced Honeyeaters just can't help themselves, zooming in and become really aggressive towards all the other birds. They will chase anyone away, bigger or smaller, who wants to partake in their little treats, even though there is plenty for all to go around. There are so many Jacaranda tree-lined streets in the neighbourhood and beyond, like a beautiful patchwork of mauve - yep, spring is here ... This is actually a first for me, to catch a bird in flight, that looks almost OK - not a bad result from my little amateur grade camera, what do you think? Cheers Brigitte (aka *BB*) PS - I would recommend a ZOOM!

Guess we all like the taste of honey, but it seems, some more than others ! LOL Dig the bird colourings, even if they are a bit noisey, just like some kind of masked bandit mugging all the sweet tree's in da hood...yeah, the "Masked Bandit Honey Eaters" ! Kool pix & ~Cheers~

A wonderful capture of these birds enjoying the beautiful Jacarandas and that is a very good capture of the one in flight. I love these beautiful trees and the great splash of colour they make. They don't do very well at all down here worse luck as they get frosted but they have some in the North Island. What a pleasure to see these little birds protecting their territory.

Yes BB-chen, zoom is a must. I think your picture is literally a high-flying-one (that's a saying for when one means to say it's a masterpiece in Dutch ;-)). What fantastic color blooms, Brigitte. I hope they only eat the honey and not the blooms ;-)! Tschüss lieber Freund!

I have been fascinated with the Jacaranda tree ever since Tori Amos immortalized it in a song, and now you've added these wonderful birds into the mix making it other-worldly for me!

Fantastic capture of the trees and pretty looking birds. Great timing and shot of the bird in flight. We don't have either of these in our part of the world. It looks so nice and warm,we are dropping temps. and falling into the cruel world of Winter.

Spring is so beautiful .... I wish to be with you. With us, the days are getting shorter and the beautiful fall colors are bathed in rain .... brrrh. But soon the bird house is the meeting place for the birds. Because you make me the idea to photograph once the Berlin sparrows at this place. If they fluffed food and protection are looking for. For dynamic shots i need "Fortuna" by my side. So: practice, practice, practice ... Super shot, Brigitte
