Description
In der Zeit des Kalten Krieges diente diese Abhöranlage (insgesamt 5 Antennenkuppeln) der Überwachung des Luftraums - insbesondere der drei Flugkorridore zwischen Berlin und der Bundesrepublik - bis weit in das Gebiet des Warschauer Paktes (Ostblock). Die Anlage auf dem Teufelsberg wurde nun hauptsächlich von der National Security Agency (NSA) betrieben und diente als Teil des weltweiten Spionagenetzes Echelon. Nach der deutschen Wiedervereinigung wurden die elektronischen Einrichtungen der Anlage entfernt, da sie nach dem Ende des Kalten Krieges nutzlos geworden waren. 1991 zogen Amerikaner und Briten ab.
Heute liegt dieses Stück deutscher Geschichte brach und verfällt zur Ruine. Der Turm ähnelt einem Skelett und die Ballons sind durch Vandalismus und vom Wetter kaputt und verschlissen. Pläne zum Errichten einer exklusiven Wohnanlage und eines Spionage-Museums konnten nicht verwirklicht werden (Insolvenz der Käufer). Offiziell nicht mehr zugänglich. Angemeldete Führungen oder ein Loch im Zaun können zur Besichtigung führen.
Das Panorama zeigt den Innenraum der am höchsten gelegenen Radarkuppel (im Turm). Jedes Finger schnippsen, jeder Klick am Auslöser der Kamera, jedes Flüstern erzeugt ein lautes Echo....heute noch.

In the period of the Cold War served this listening device system (a total of 5 radomes) of
the air traffic control - especially the three air corridors between Berlin and West Germany-far into the territory of the Warsaw Pact (Soviet bloc). The plant on the Teufelsberg was now mainly operated by the National Security Agency (NSA), and served as part of the global ECHELON spy network. After German reunification, the electronic devices of the plant were removed because they had become useless after the end of the Cold War. 1991 moved from America and Britain.
Today is broke this piece of German history and falls into ruin. The tower looks like a skeleton, and the balloons are due to vandalism and weather-worn and broken. Plans for establishing an exclusive residential complex and a spy museum could not be realized (insolvency the purchaser). Officially no longer accessible. Registered guides or a hole in the fence could lead to the public.
The panorama shows the interior of the highest radar dome (in the tower). Each finger schnippsen, every click on the shutter release of the camera, every whisper produces a loud echo .... today still

ich finde es einfach besch.. dass man alles so verkommen lässt.ist ja auch wichtiger millionen in den sand zu setzen mit "idiotenprojekten"anstatt etwas sinnvolles zu finanzieren. aber das generiert ja keine kohle oder grosse publicity.

Where once spies spent their days watching each other there is now a smiling kitty. I like the improvement. Excellent photo montage. Fascianting history I never knew. Wo einst Spione ihre Tage verbrachten beobachten einander gibt es jetzt eine lächelnde kitty. Ich mag die Verbesserung. Ausgezeichnete Fotomontage. Fascianting Geschichte, die ich nie kannte.

Ich dachte schon, dass du einen neuen Planeten für uns gefunden hast. Ein sehr interessanter Ort. Schon seltsam, dass es so brach liegt, da sieht man mal, dass Prioritäten immer nach der politischen Lage gesetzt werden. Sicherlich war damals dort öfter mal der Teufel los. Eine sehr schöne Collage, manche Bilder wirken regelrecht so, als wären sie gezeichnet...
