Poser 4 rendering. I set all the lights to 50% shadow intensity; that stopped the "daubed with tar" effect. Hardhat diver's airline from Cybertenko's deep sea diver model in Marketplace.
The dredger-sub is 30 feet long here.

I made the background in Bryce a long time ago. Bryce comes with a "foamy sea" texture for the Bryce ground plane; I made an edited form of it that let light through so I could use it on a new flat plane for sea surface overhead.
