This is very moving Seth, fine work! Many ideas come to mind, live rose in hand, dead one on ground.

It looks a little like an old grave in front, but she is not really dressed like someone bereaved. Though it does look like she is bringing a rose with her. Hmmm, I'm probably way off, but maybe something to do with the passion of life symbolised by the girl with the rose vs the earthiness and darkness of death. Cool artwork!

In a bleak and dying world she has found the last red rose. Wishing to possess its beauty, she tears it from the earth. The rose will be hers for a time, yet her actions have condemned it to death and its beauty will wither and fade to be never seen again. ... Wow. I'M in a cheery mood today, huh??

I have to echo what Alex said, but to go a bit further - she, herself is the rose in the bleak, dying world. By the fact of being born into it, she will eventually die, like a rose plucked from a garden of souls...as we all do. But while she is there, she will bring some light and beauty into that bleak, dying world. There's definitely life and death symbolism in this, or perhaps it is masquerading as youth and age or vitality and decay. Very touching, thought-provoking image and well done, Seth!

You know the standard tribute to a fallen solder? Boots rifle, Helmet rose? I see the Lass Replacing the rifle, in a more feminine, but not softer version.

She's in a dying world, most things in her life are at a dead end and the doors that are still open to her are but only a few. She carrys the one last piece of hope symbolized in this rose that will either answer her prayers to solve the problems she faces or she will die as everything else around her. I see this as a person using all her effort and last resources to find that one reason to keep going. I can see myself in this position, thus why I wrote it. Beautiful piece no matter what your deep meaning is dear Seth.

Fantastic render! The mist and lighting are perfect. I see the rose as a symbol of/tribute to someone she loves who is gone. While sad, she has hope and, when she either lays it on the grave or tosses it to the wind, she will raise her head up and walk forward to begin again.

we all deal with loss in our own way. every day she brings a new red rose to her lost love. the old rose on the ground she sprinkles over the grave so her love grows deeper every day. nice work on this moody scene.
