Description

I wasn't joking when I said the wind was blowing hard. There were power outages all over the city, apparently. There was no power here where I live for about 17 hours. It was a LOOONNNGGG 17 hours, let me tell you. I couldn't do squat, and I don't even want to think about my refrigerator...but I guess I'm going to have to tackle it here soon :( I figured I'd just go to sleep and hope that the power was back on when I woke up. I kept waking up, never really going to sleep. I wasn't really sleepy. I just kept thinking how dependent we are on electricity. It's kind of mortifying, really. I thought of Nikola Tesla's power sources, solar power and wind power. We would have had an excess of the later from Tuesday night's storm that blew through here. The wind can be quite devastating. Here it blows down the Front Range essentially tunneled by the mountains and across the city below. And I kept thinking "Let there be light!" Thus, the image. Background by me in PShop I retextured the hair to make it blue with Serpentis Hair Textures. Don't see them in the list. They probably removed it. Model is SRG_Marina available at YURDigital ***** Thanks, as always, for your comments and your time dear friends. Back to the story tomorrow. I have an interesting image in mind for it...maybe not what you'd expect. Have a terrific Thursday and take care of yourselves! Ray

You know I'm the lightning lady. Lmao! Too bad I can't just 'glow' when the power goes out. Which is a natural phenom here. Good luck with the fridge, kiddo. :x

I hate when that happens! And yeah, we are way to dependent on electricity but it's way too late to turn it off. Glad you're ok otherwise.

Great work, Ray! This character is so extremely cool. And here's the thing. I am a fanatic about this subject. I am presently running my modem and computer on generator power because PPL is changing the pole out front and had to shut my power off while they do it. Two Summers ago? Hurricane Irene knocked out our power for three days. I maintained normalcy using a deep cycle battery and a power inverter. I also have a small solar panel. I basically assembled a portable solar generator. The heaviest part is the battery. There are lots of alternatives available to you that are not insanely expensive at all. In times of crisis, the most important thing is to maintain a sense of normalcy. I truly hope you'll look into this. Next time? Seventeen hours might be a week. See? I told you I'm a fanatic about this. LOL. Good luck. :) PS ... Make sure you keep a big bag of ice in your freezer! And have a big cooler. I'm sorry. I am a fanatic about this. We have no idea what is coming as the weather gets more and more extreme, etc. Please prepare yourself. I'm not kidding.

Beautiful image and apparently very fitting to your event. Excellent FX work. I know what you mean about our reliance on electricity and how we were/are robbed of Tesla's work. In warm weather the fridge is the worst part. Here we are investing in generator very soon. Either propane or gas, have to do some more research.

This is great. I have been in some long power outages and they are not fun. I went crazy when the cable to my house got cut and I had no phone, no computer, no TV for a week. It really dawned on me how dependant I am on those things. If I had no power at all I would be toast.

An electrifying image to be sure! Wonderful and powerful work, Ray! Yeah, I tend to freak out when the power goes out - not only for the inconvenience of the outage itself, but for the job of getting my network all up and running again... We are SO dependent on the power supplied by the utility companies - and they know it.... Don't even get me started....LOL! There are so many ways to generate electricity; the trick is STORING that power.. Tesla was waaaay ahead of his time...
