Description
Captured 6/21/11, on my second visit to the beautiful Aquarium of the Pacific, in beautiful Long Beach, California.
Looking up toward the water's surface and into the light in this foto, shot through good glass (i.e., no unruly kids' greasy handprints).
Other than some contrast manipulation, no postwork, including filters, performed here.
Much better viewed via ZOOM.
Sayonara, and have a nice day.

Wonderful capture of the fish-eye view toward the sky, Harry. I could almost hear the bubbling on zoom! You did well here, not an easy capture at all!

Amazing color blends refracted through the water. Very similar to a water color painting. Great capture :-)

I echo many of the comments: I agree with Denise (always nice to see her back, btw) that this isn't an easy shot at all; I agree with your son about the watercolor-like feel; and with mgtcs in her loving praise, etc. I honestly didn't know what it was when I first saw it, that is, before I read your description, and that's a compliment: Yes, your title said it was 'underwater', but the image hits one so immediately, it looks like a lavish abstract; and for a minute it just wipes away references to an aquarium. And the fact that you did a minimum of postwork speaks to your eye's acumen: It's truly like a painting, and yet it's straight from the camera. Then, the movement from bright whites (top) through turquoises and green-blues and deep blues and finally to the shadowy formations at the bottom are wonderful. If your cropping assisted this, bravo; if not, bravo on your composition straight out of the camera---either way, the choice was excellent. And the fish are in total harmony with the swaths of light and color around them. You know, I haven't been to the Photography Forum at all, for a while, so I don't know if you were recognized for any of these; but you've put up a whole slew of first rate images which deserved to be recognized. But then, you deserved gallery of the month a long time ago too. One of the things images like these tell us is, while you shoot desolate or isolated images of a meter against an empty wall, and make genuine poetry of them, you also take lush shots like this and bring out all their lushness. You aren't limited to one or another type, in other words; It's a matter of finding the poetry wherever you are. Beautiful piece all around.
