Description
Another one from Tent Rocks. During my trip, I noticed that these types of striated cliffs were common in the southwest, though the colors varied by region. Here, they were mostly gray-blue, in Canyonlands they tended to be variations of red hues & in Arches brown-orange hues...

Wow looking at all those layers really is like travelling back in time.

Beautiful shot. Geology is an amazing study. It is wonderful how things get built up and then eroded back down. I would like to find out how much bigger the Earth is now than say a billion years ago.

jayfar: It's not snow, just the sun, which was setting, lighting up the tops of the hills.

Amazing colours and patterns, and of course the shapes themselves. Excellent capture!

Sediment layers from an inland sea. The color variation is so interesting! I hadn't thought about that. Beautiful and fascinating!
