Description

For Halloween, a favorite holiday. I braved the chilly night air to get this tonight, a local antique shop's seasonal window display. It was just too cool to pass up without snapping a few images. Thanks for looking and your comments : )

I've always thought skeletons (on display) were exceptionally odd. Incredibly cool, but odd. I mean, in order to get the full skeleton effect, the said set of bones have to be naked, or largely naked...and so I always wondered (even as a child) if skeletons on display like this were, at least to other skeletons, vaguely pornographic. I mean, non-skeletonized people (the ones who are alive, anyway) wear clothing. Even zombies, pre-skeletonized, not-entirely-alive people also wear clothing...but then skeletons walk around nude...or mostly nude. This one's in a hat. Anyway, I always wondered if, in some alternate universe, there were a bunch of skeletons peeking in on Halloween displays here and shaking their skulls at the flagrant exhibitionism evident in this culture. I could just hear them now: "Oh, look at her, flaunting her pelvis! It's not even her's...she's had it worked on you know. It's 20% silicon. You can tell because calcium doesn't come in that shade." Or: "Looks like somebody had a rib job and is acting like he hasn't. It doesn't make him look any younger, you know!" Okay, enough rambling. This is a gorgeous shot and nicely fun. I can easily see heading out at night to nab a shot like this.
