Okay, sorry, but gotta run--I am late for a REALLY important date...
I know, silly.
Well, just another little update on Sandy from my perspective.
I have been locked in since Saturday and beginning to lose my sense of day and time. Oddly enough, the building I work in (Bank of America Tower in Manhattan) is without electricity. Couldn't happen to a nicer company :) So, not only can I not get into Manhattan, even if I could, the crappy building I work in is shut down.
One thing is for certain, when I view all the destruction, which really does resemble a tsunami, I feel so fortunate when all around me is in total devastation...I might suffer financially because I can't get to work, but I really haven't been otherwise materially affected by this monster storm...I have electricity, running water, plenty of food, and experienced enough to know to have cash on hand... It is so heartbreaking to see all the folks who have lost everything...Several of my coworkers live in evacuation areas--do hope they did the right thing...
Well, it looks like Susan (Blush) was right when she said that I won't be going to work until at least the end of the week...The jerk Bloomberg says the subways might be up in 4 days...that is a joke, because the switches will get crapped up by the salt water and need to be replaced--and by the way, 7 subway tunnels between Manhattan and Brooklyn are totally flooded, some up to their ceilings. It will take at least 4 days to pump out all the water and dry out these tunnels. Then they have to check everything and make repairs...Right, 4 days...I could be wrong, but it would be a miracle if he's right...What a mess!
Thanks for the view and for any comments you may like to leave...if you are feeling the effects of this crap storm, please leave your thoughts/comments. Interested in how you are faring...
Oops. Forgot. Happy Halloween!

This is a wonderful portrait, beautifully rendered. I'm glad to see Sandy has not altered your good spirit. It is such a catastrophy for so many, unfortunately. "Bon courage" as we say here. Hugs Odile

Really cool image Barb, you did great. As for what your mayor said I have to agree with you as it wouldn't be safe to try and get everything up and going so fast, it all needs to be checked over carefully.

Fantastic render & character. Glad to hear you made it through relatively unscathed. Hope you are not going stir-crazy. My part of Northern VA was lucky - lots of wind & rain, but no major damage & we didn't lose power so I am back at work today (Metro is back up and running, having closed down Mon. & Tues.)

marvelous image!! Glad that you're OK. Here the bad weather is starting again: high tide in Venice, bora winds in Trieste (80 - 120 km/h)), gales storming all around the countriside, snow in the mountains. It looks the dead will ride tonight, Happy Halloween!

I love this portrait, the colors and lighting along with the expression give one the idea that all is not well in River City... (excuse the pun) I am glad you are alright and stocked up for the long haul... it is sad that so many weren't as future thinking as yourself. But, you can't say the weren't warned ahead of time. It is terrible that this storm has left many with nothing and no way to reclaim or rebuild all they have lost. B.O.A. won't lose anything, they always come out smelling like a rose... too bad.

I'm so glad you are safe and sound, I was thinking of you while watching the news. Lovely image, he is quite the angry character.

I am so glad you are okay, Goldie!!!!! It sounds horrible. Here in Michigan, we are just getting high winds and rain. The waves on lake Michigan are 35 feet high I saw on the news. Hope things clear up soon and you can get to work!!!!!

I'm very glad to hear that you are at least safe and sound Barb. Far too many people have been hurt by this disaster. I count my blessings living in dull old Southern Ontario. Though several parts of Toronto are still out of power due to the same storm. So your mayor is a jerk too.... I love this guy's expression. He is definitely not someone you want to keep waiting. Which appears to be the case for his next victim. Happy Halloween and all my prayers to you and your friends.
