This shot was taken during one of the summer weekend trips my mother would make to our area shore. To Us, the Jersey Shore is not a television show. Sometimes it's not even casino's and Park Piers. It's moments like these, spending time near the ocean with family and friends. I have lived here for all but 2 years of my life, just about an hour's drive to the shore. To many of us as teens the shore represented one thing; freedom. From school, from parents. I have had the misfortune of reading comments from people who use the TV Show to reference the Jersey Shore; as if that is what the shore people are all about. Saying things like "Good Riddance". I have also seen misinformed people state something along the lines of the people who live at the shore have money. While it is true that there are those with homes in the shore that are probably well-to-do, that is not the case for the majority of the people who live there. Before people flap their mouths about things they don't know or understand; I just wish that they would take 5 minutes to find out what they are talking about. An informed comment is more welcomed than one borne of ignorance. Please keep our shore residents in your thoughts while we begin the chore of restoring power, clearing debris and rebuilding. My Sister-in-law is one of a group of people driving all over, meeting people and gathering donations of non-perishable food, clothing and other essentials which will be delivered to affected areas. My contribution sits here waiting to be picked up.
