Description
Every once in a while I will post an image not for it's beauty, but for documentation purposes. This is one of those images. The post this is continuing on from just the other day. If missed please visit the gallery, it's worth the extra click. ;~)
An image from Battery Point to show the isthmus side. As you can see it is between tides, I always show up between tides...lol. Am usually on my way up into Oregon or recreating along the Smith River somewhere and Crescent City is just a moments stop along the way.
Have never hit a character limit before on a post and the other day I was flabbergasted when I did. Resulting in my not giving credit to where some of the information came from. Lighthousefriends.com and the Del Norte county Historical Society provided a great deal of information.
One other thing I did not get to talk about last post was St. George Reef Lighthouse. Just Northwest of Crescent City harbor some 7 miles, this reef was so treacherous it was dubbed "The Dragon Rocks". This is one inspiring history I invite you to read about. A good place to start would be these two sites; http://www.lighthousefriends.com/light.asp?ID=26 , Second site; http://www.pbs.org/legendarylighthouses/html/calgl.html
To the kind souls that leave their mark whether a comment, rating, or save the image as a fav, you are very much appreciated, thank you!!!
Thank you all that viewed my last image below.
