Another from our walk around the neighborhood the other day.
This is an ornamental maple (acer) against a backdrop of still-mostly-green alders.

What a shot! It's very Japanese in a way; I think it's the cool asymmetry and that "splash" thing this has going. Really super. Such warmth for so cool (or at least temperate and kinda moist) a season. I love the way this grabs the eye and dances around with it.

OMG - talk about red! That is the purest red I've seen on a maple in a very long time! The sumac around here gets pretty red, but not this saturated. Great find and photo, Tara!
