Description

A marlin is a fish with an elongated body, a spear like bill, and a long rigid dorsal fin. Its common name is thought to derive from the marlins bill resemblance to a sailor's marlinspike. Marlin are incredibly fast swimmers, reaching speeds of 68 mph (110 km per hour). The larger species include the Atlantic blue marlin which can reach 16.4 feet (5 meters) in length and 1,800 lbs (818 kg) in weight. This was near the sailfish posted about a week ago and next to Sunset Sams Fish Camp. This is a plastic marlin and I assure you that no marlins were injured while taking this photo. Some information from Wikipedia. Zoom for a better look! Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

Great capture Dana! The Marlin is a very beautiful fish! Here in my country there is a Marlin fishing contest every year and has become an international event.

Quite a magnificent-looking creature, and I'm sure the plastic version has been carefully crafted to represent the real thing!

I have been asked several times to hang trophy Marlins, and some were very large. did you see on the net recently about either a marlin or sword fish that was on the hook jumped out of the water onto the fishing boat just missing spearing one man . it broke part of the boat and the piece of wood hit one of the men on his head. they never said if they were able to land it
