Description

Greetings all! This is Lilly. She is the newest addition to the family. She's a three year old female tabby which we adopted last month from the local Humane Society. She likes laser beams, chatting, petting, jumping onto things, tuna and sun bathing. Turn offs include cameras, computers, the neighbour's cat and Chinese dragons. She also really does not like being picked up and placed on any flat surface. Perplexing behavour which took us some time to decode. But back up at the 'big house', such events meant just one thing: a visit from the vet. Doesn't like the poking or inspection of the gums. HISS! As was to be expected, at first Lilly was very uncertain of her new surroundings. Indeed, most of her first day was spent hiding under couches and beds. Except for when a bowl of milk or kibble was on offer; then fear (or at least disdain) took a back seat to feast!. But aside from such necessities she remained aloof and largely hidden. Then, the first night and 3am rolled around. Suddenly Lilly decided it was time to scope her new digs. Formerly silent as a church mouse (are they truly that quiet?) she jumped onto or meowed at any object she could find - including my formerly sleeping head. And, at some point in the night, she knocked over and broke a Chinese dragon on the living room table. How a fall of 60cm onto a carpeted floor could result in such a stout figurine shattering into twenty pieces is... unclear. Still, it was enough to earn her the title of 'Dragon Slayer'. But now, it has been just over four weeks and Lilly appears to have settled in. She's claimed her own room - and yes, you must ask permission to enter - lots of sun. In spite of her size she somehow manages to hog half the bed space. And she has decided that she much prefers her food to be brought to her rather than visa-versa. She also likes to grunt and claw at old chairs.

Really cute cat. We have five - four dumped off by my daughters when they moved out. One of them loves my PC and sits on my lap and plays with the keyboard. Not fun for me!

Sounds like quite a character!! She is a lucky cat to be rescued. We have rescued 2 three legged dogs.

Clayton, you really did make my night with this photo of Lilly the Dragon Slayer and the story behind the image. First of all let me say may God bless you and your family for being so kind as to take in a shelter animal. It was nice to read about the adjustments Lilly had to make to her new surroundings, and as always you're observations gave me a chuckle. So glad she has settled in, and that she has a loving home.

Oh, I can see the fierceness that slayed the dragon. I imagine it was a heroic battle and not a mere fall that did him in. Wonderful image and narrative! I always love to hear that a cat has found a good home, and it sounds like Lilly hit the jackpot. She's a cutie. I like the white point going up from one of her paws. I totally enjoyed reading of Lilly's adventures. You're a great storyteller and had me chuckling. For such regal creatures, cats can be so comical. Congratulations on your newest addition!
