Description
Im new to astrophotography, though I like this one enough to post:
please view in full size.
On the bottom third, off center you can see the faint indication of the Great Red Spot. Also, on the lower right of the planet, you can see a black dot that is the shadow of a moon on the surface. The moon that is casting that shadow is at an angle about four to five planet widths to the lower right
Another moon is also visible to the left.
(sorry, I don't know which moons they are)
Shot with a Canon 550d through a Skywatcher 6" Maksutov Cassegrain telescope.
Light pollution filter
Thanks for viewing.

That's pretty cool to get that much detail photographing an object so far away, way more than I could ever get!

Excellent result. I've yet to get a good one of Jupiter. Keep it up.

Woah, loads of detail here. Looks like I need to add an LP filter to my shopping list. Why does this hobby have to be so expensive? Thank you for your comment on my lunar pic, yes it was with the 180 Mak at prime focus, then processed in Topaz detail to give some contrast. Am loving looking at Jupiter through the scope but not had much luck with photos yet. Next weekend's project - weather pemitting - is to investigate BackyardEOS; it's supposed to be a good toy for Canon users. I mean tool :)
