Description

Thank you for stoping for a closer look. Any and all comments are welcome and appreciated. As we were touring around St. Maarten, this caught my eye. It is an old plane that some enterprizing fellow made into a restaurant. We didn't stop for a meal there but the lady conducting the tour said the food was very good there. St Maarten was a very beautiful island, with exceptionally friendly folks. Parts of the island are built up into some very exclusive and ultra rich resorts, but there is lots for normal folks like us to enjoy. Have a great weekend! Jim

Great timing and great shot while sitting on a moving bus Jim. Suprisingly it was set up in a busy area inside the city. Quite the impressive conversation piece for tourists to say the least.

Imagine being a tourist...after having a few Tequila Sunrises or Rum and Cokes too many(hey it could happen)and mistakenly board this thinking it was your flight....lol...So if by chance you had eaten their and say the food was bad or not cooked to your liking...Do you ask to speak with the cook or the pilot??..lol... Seriously...At our local county airport they have done exactly what these folks have done and is really cool.Taken an old fuselage and turned it into a restaurant...It's a popular eatery and you can eat there without having to partake in an actual flight anywhere.Inside looks just as it would inside an actual plane...Has old pictures hanging on the walls of old time flight pictures of days gone by.....basically anything aviation related. The menu has items such as the DC-9 deluxe burger and of course they have "Wings" of various flavors and so on....We've ate there on several occasion throughout the years and after visiting we thought....What a cool idea this was...(smiles)...

The island is owned by both the Dutch and the French. This plane was on the Dutch side of the island. The French side is where the nude beaches are, Glenda wouldn't let me take pictures there.
