Description
I delved into something a little new here. I had never really used Painter before and when I had used it in the past, I always had problems with getting used to it. Someone mentioned to me that I might want to try it again, especially since I am painting more then I am rendering, so I downloaded a trial.
I really like this new version of the product and was amazed at how it felt more like painting. I love photoshop but used it a little in this image. I used Painter 12 for sketching, painting and detailing. This was more practice and was done from scratch using the reference image listed below.
This image is huge so if anyone is interested in seeing some details, please let me know and I will post them.
Reference was a photo by Perry Gallagher called Darva IV... (http://perrygallagher.deviantart.com/gallery/?offset=240#/d1ob8d8)
Thanks for viewing and your time.

I like how you reframed her and made those eyes the focus--it's a more interesting portrait now! I like Painter, but sometimes it feels bloated and cranky--maybe the newer versions are more optimized-- or maybe I just need a faster computer. It seems to like you a lot.

Thanks everyone! I agree that Painter feels a tad temperamental at times, I just like how the brushes interact with the painting and the way you mix colors feels more natural to me shrug
