Description
My husband, Kalli, and I managed to be on the beach at Port Douglas, Australia for the total solar eclipse this year It was a great vacation, 20 days in all, visiting New Zealand as well as Australia. We visited several locations in each country, and it was a great opportunity to do some photography. Unfortunately, my Canon EOS 7D decided to stop taking pictures the day before the eclipse. Fortunately, I had my Ixus pocket camera, and while it's not quite a digital SLR, it can take good pictures. I had already planned to concentrate on shots surrounding the event anyway, rather than the eclipse itself, so I wasn't out of the running. Kalli was all set up to take the scientific pictures, and I'm sure he'll probably post some of his shots soon. But I couldn't resist a few shots of the sun at totality, so here's the best one. If you'd like, I'll post some images of the activity around me on the beach
I hope you enjoy this. I was glad to be able to get a shot this good with my small camera. The eclipse was a wonderful thing to experience. I'm so glad we got a little break in the clouds.
