Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I'm surprised he's shy; those tats and piercings are quite attention-drawing!
jayfar
Those marks in his ear suggests he has many more bits to add.

How horrible,

I disagree that he looks 'horrible'. I wouldn't have it myself, but he's probably a very nice bloke. Each to their own I say! I have a few tats...but admittedly not all over my face!
Juliette.Gribnau
he's gorgeous; send him to me please ??!!
jendellas
Oh, I wonder if he wishes he hadn't had them done?
helanker
Is HE shy??? SO why does he get these tatoos that are reeeaally catching our attention? Mystery to me. Excellent shot :)
Crabbycabby
Shy? Yes, seems strange to draw so much attention. Maybe he just appeared shy?

I try hard never to judge people strictly by their looks. Some folks wear really bizzare hair colors and such, and that is cool. As an employer however, I really don't care how qualified this fellow is, I guarentee he would never get hired. Maybe if he wants to work at a tatoo parlour it might be acceptable, but working in a hospital some one with such poor judgement would be hard pressed to help patients that are frightened already feel at ease. He might be one of the nicest and caring people you could ever meet, but not many of the elderly we work with here would ever hear a word he had to say, they would be defensive the moment he walked up to them.

Superb capture Andrea. God Bless.

Shy with all those tattoos on his face? It struggle to believe in this! Excellent portrait! :)

Great pic I dont' really go for all the face and neck tats tho Hugs Susan~

Good capture, but this kind of body defacing is to me as rubbish is to you, A. Shy? He's something out of a Batman movie.

WOW! I somehow get the impression that he doesn't have a corporate, white-collar, office-drone job. That's quite refreshing! I love the almost tribal look he has, as well as the idea that he's inked a lot more than is shown here! I wonder at the stories in the ink. How long did it take. It looks like his eyelids are done. WOW! It actually doesn't surprise me that he's shy. Maybe he uses the tattoos to speak for him. Hmmm...speaking ink there's a story in there! I'll have to explore that! This is brilliant and inspiring and he looks rather Zen-meditative. Wonderful.

ahhh !!!! one of my favorites " The Illustrated Man " by Ray Bradbury. IMO one of the few books to movie that were both excellent. Maybe because of Steiger and Bloom. nice portrait

Everyone to there own but it's not for me.

Visually it is quite a contradictory image. While probably a nice fellow he looks like a skinhead certified public accountant.

May fade with time!! I have a mental hilarious picture of what may happen when those loaded with metal pass a powerful magnet...

I think he is not so shy, I have seen many photos of this man before on tattoo sites. He is all over the place. I do get a kick out of how many viewers feel a need to pick him apart mentally if not to his face. Who cares? If he wants it then he gets it and I don't feel I have any right to judge him whatsoever, or to compare what he does to what I do. Like Andrew said, "he's probably a very nice bloke." (alternate ending for those in Europe)..."he's probably a very nice bloke".
dakotabluemoon
Wow guess he likes the pain that goes along with all that very cool.

He's certainly making a bold statement with that face, though I'm not quite sure what he's saying - I guess I'd have to ask him to find out. Fine, dramatic portrait...
Glendaw
I agree he certainly is making a bold and dramatic fashion statement. What a wonderful shot of his tattoos and earrings. Guessing this is the new age of the hippie era. There were a lot of nice folks with weird clothes/or no clothes back then too. Should not judge a book by it's cover they say..

I'm totally impressed by the work someone has done here. Just look at the depth and the shading! Some of it looks like it was almost air-brushed on. That's some really nice work! I don't have any tats, but certainly don't mind them on others. You do meet the most interesting people!
three_grrr
I have always wanted a tattoo, but have never been able to get past the paing factor. So I will always remain ink-free. sigh. Awesome work on his face, and I was totally blown away by the fact that his eyelids are also tattooed, seen much clearer in the link you provided.
danapommet
Both wonderful portrait photos. He is all ready to star in a US style biker movie!
