Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Have you read Ursula K. LeGuin's novel, Always Coming Home? If not, I think you might like it. It's one of those complicated, incredibly fun and occasionally-hilarious books that stays with you for decades. It's one of my perennial favorites. And I bring this up because of your incredible, lovely piece of art. A variation of the Trickster Character appears in LeGuin's book, and this particular near-trickster just so happens to be Coyote: apparently she's partly responsible (or at fault) for the creation of the world, and she has the odd habit of being rather morally ambiguous. In one of the stories related in Always Coming Home, Coyote, after creating the world, was rather disturbed by humans arriving, and so she "got a volcano to erupt" which didn't do anything more than spew ash, lava, gasses, and people all around the world. Having seen her plan fail, Coyote, at the end of that tale, just decided to live in the wild, away from people. This image made me think of that, and drew a huge grin across my face. It's quite a lovely image! It's also a perfect dedication. This is quite marvelous.

I like this is the dog buster.

This is wonderful! I love the humor in the dog's face and the linear nature and differing contrasts of the surroundings. A long time ago I saw a simple drawing that James Mason did of one of his Siamese cats. With a very simple drawing, he portrayed a wealth of feline characteristics. I love images like that and yours is one. It makes me smile and brings to mind a myriad of little dogs with their inquisitive and lively natures. This is great for Ana. Her lighter images have a similar effect. She calls them doodles, but they have power to set the mind looking for deeper meaning, and finding it.
