Oscar Ribeiro de Almeida Niemeyer Soares of GCSE • ComIH (Rio de Janeiro, December 15, 1907 - Rio de Janeiro, December 5, 2012) was a Brazilian architect named most influential in modern architecture. He was a pioneer in the exploration of the constructive possibilities of reinforced concrete and plastic, and for this reason had great national and international fame since the 1940s. [1] His best known works are the public buildings he designed for the city of Brasília, but has a great body of work since graduating from the National School of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro in 1934.
