Well, here's chapter 3 page 17 of the Girls From T.N.A. at long last! It took a little while to get this one put together - I hope you like the result.
I tried a lot of new things with this page; some worked, some didn't. For instance, for the first time I tried importing Poser figures into Vue. Vue didn't want to play nice, and I still haven't got this quite figured out; even with Art's help (thank you, Art!), So I just resorted to doing a little bit more compositing. I made a few backgrounds in Vue, and just applied them to Out Of Touch's excellent "Back" prop. It seemed to work out pretty well this way.
The buildings are all freebies by Dryjack, available at Share CG. Thank you, bro, an excellent job on these!
I also used my "new" version of Arawen - clothing now fits her much better and more easily!
I made the text for the Girls' conversations just a little bit smaller; hopefully it's still relatively easy to read. In frame 4 there was a lot of information I wanted to get across so I had to reduce the text size just a little bit. Things are going to get real interesting for the Girls in the next couple of pages, so be sure to stay tuned!
Gaaahhhhhh...... This 512K size limit is killing me...... :-P
I've had a lot of things going on the last few weeks, so I haven't been as active here as I would've liked. Hopefully things will calm down a little bit after the holidays.
I entered my
Martian render in the "Curiosity contest" over at YURdigital.com, and was delighted last week to find that I had taken third-place in that contest! As Rene would say, I picked up a few
fat prizes! LOL! I won a copy of Anime Studio Pro 9 from Smith Micro, and a copy of Filter Forge as well! I'm not a huge fan of anime or manga, but the Anime Studio software apparently is great for helping to create comics or similar things, so I'm looking forward to playing with it a bit. And of course the Filter Forge will be fun to play with, too; that is assuming it will work with Photoshop 7.
And now speaking of comics... Here's something I'm considering and would like a little input on. I'm thinking very seriously about creating a comic book sized version of the Girls From T.N.A. The format would be slightly different, as the layout would be more suitable for print. The 5 panel pages are great for the web, but they just don't work for print or PDF formats. It would take a lot of work, and I would have to go in and re-create a lot of the artwork, as pretty much all of the artwork for chapter 2 was lost in a hard drive crash I had last summer. Like an idiot, I didn't take my own advice, and hadn't backed up for a long time! Anyway, just something I'm thinking about for the new year.
Now I need to get my rear in gear, and get caught up on comments! It seems like I'm falling behind farther and farther, but hopefully I can get caught up today!
Hope you all have a great weekend, and happy holidays to everyone! As always, thank you for dropping by my gallery, having a look around, and for all your wonderful comments in support! I'll say it again........ You all rock!

I forgot to mention earlier, I also uploaded a new tutorial. It's a demonstration on how I put my speech bubbles or balloons together. A number of people were asking me how I did it, so I thought I'd create a short tutorial. You can find it in the Renderosity tutorial section.

WOW! Very cool work Rod I think the ladies have it right about the original owners probably wanting the device back.

I think your story would make a great comic book and the artwork is excellent for it. Lots of work probably, but to see it in print... cool!

Excellent work!

The smaller text didn't bother me at all. In fact, I didn't even notice it until you mentioned it and I went back for a second look. Things are definitely getting stranger all the time! That light in the sky in the last frame seems familiar. Is it a garbage can lid? LOL!

I like this a lot. It has a very VUE feel to it and I was gonna ask. I am considering buying the newest VUE and this inspires me. I want to create my own backgrounds for Ishtar series... whenever that happens LOL. I especially like the interior point lighting in panel 4. Dialogue is good and size works for me in full view and is still quite readable otherwise. Go where your heart tells you to with the comic. I think it is a natural and encourage you to give it a go. If you have to change to format so be it.

totally freakin' detailed and killer work Rod, love each frame. the top one with the pov is spectacular. i have that house just never used it yet. you employed all the great props from Johnny's cool skyrider and all the earthly elements. well don on all this very hard work my friend, that bottom framee is so cool with the effects, time to go national with the girls from TNA featured in Guns -N- Leather magazine. the gals will have their copy soon, hope they enjoy being in the mag as the featured comic. so awaiting the next chapter my friend, just can't get enough..

Wow, everything looks fantastic in this Rod!! It's a little cramped in that cottage but you managed to pull it off and with great lighting too! All the scenes look great and the last one is fun. Excellent job with the rain. It does look like things are going to heat up here real quick for the girls. As for the comic, I have to agree with Roxy...do what your heart says about it. Looking forward to the next installment :)

Very cool scene and story here Rob, it is nice to see this newest chapter. You put so much time and effort into your art, and that is what makes it stand out. Looks like they won't have to wait long to see who the original owners are.

These scenes look amazing and I think it would be great if you could make this series into a book though I know it will take a lot of work. Congratulations on winning some great prizes they are very well deserved and I hope they will help with you making more of these great scenes. Excellent dialogue and lighting too.

COOOOOOOOOOOL Rod! Love the environments you created! Hmmmmmmmmmm. The plot thickens! Wonder if the girls will meet the Stooges, LOL. Yah. I noticed you made the print smaller. I'm not getting any younger and the smaller print is getting harder to read, LOL. Excellent addition Rod!

This is great! looks like are mechanical friend is going to pay are girl a little visit! Its a good thing this place is isolated because I believe all hell is going to break loose!! I don't think these others are the origanl owners, just somebody who had it first and lost it...probable up to no good with it. I can't with to find out!!! Now for the comic Idea!...EXCELLENT!...I would love to see the TNA girls as a comic.I think it a wonderful Idea, sure you would have to change the layout but I know you can pull it off easy...Ok maybe it wont be that easy but, it would still look great. I'm making my latest story ( Mecha Ranpha ) in a comic format. I'm even going so far as to printing up each page... Well I hope you Have a great weekend...

Nice to see the "girls" back in action again! sounds like you've got ambitious plans in mind, too.

Such a nice put-together, I had always be a fan of your TNA series, Big Bro. It's like every time I see one, I can not wait to see the next in the series. I will take a look at the tutorial you have mentioned. Also, it is always nice to grab all these freebies. You must have a long list of sites that you visit to find all these additional props you use on your scenes. I must say, your lighting as well as the prop placements are one of the best I have seen so far. And the conversational style is always fun to read, you can see a lot of their individual personality and character. Just love the series a lot!

I am so exhausted and trying to get through my emails so fast I wore myeslf out and fell asleep at the fireplace scene... I have two small black dogs and I dreamed someone left the front door open and we had about 10 dogs show up that looked like them... I kept calling for my wife to help me figure out which dogs were which and all of a sudden the dogs were gone.... I think I dreamed it becase faemike's 25 year old bird died. I gotta go to bed - lol
boobunny

So... the girls decide to park up in an old abandoned shack before the storm hits... if it wasn't for the UFO in the last panel I'd have sworn that Sam Rami wrote this one! LOL! You're not getting Special Guest Writers for episodes now, are ya? LOL! Man, your TNA stuff is quite beyond belief in terms of content and quality. You put so much work into each page and it's always a pleasure to read! I wish I could do the same for my stories. Real, hard copy comics and graphic novels, huh? That would be awesome! You might want to check out a little program called Comic Book Creator. Basically does what it says on the tin! Could be a useful tool. Keep up the the stellar work, bro! And congrats on the win!
