Description
This is another full extension telephoto shot taken as we approached the Needles section of Canyonlands National Park in Utah. Not sure if what's pictured here is actually in the park or adjacent to it, but it has the same kind of look to it. The next batch of photos I post will be from a very long & spectacular hike we took in Needles...

Erosion at its finest! Keith Heyer Meldahl has written two books (that I know of) about the geology of the West. One is called Hard Road West, and the other is Rough-Hewn Land. I'm reading the second one now, and can barely put it down! I knew we wanted to take Hard Road West with us in the motorhome when we visited these areas, and am now convinced we'll want both. He makes huge, abstract concepts easy to grasp. I'm looking forward to sitting in front of some outcrop or roadway cut, thumbing through one of his books! Your photography makes me want to be doing it right now. :)

A wonderful POV and capture of this area. I had the same smog during my visit!
