Born in Hilo, Hawaii and class of '66, I became very active in Barbells, Judo and love striking the heavy/speed bag. I've learned to Rollerblade and bike ride which is a very health sport. But time doesn't stop for anyone including for me. So my good friend Dave aka punaguy got me started in taking pictures. I'm having fun taking pictures especially hiking the mountains. I'm enjoying seeing the world thru your post on Renderosity. Mahalo and Aloha....Errol

What a cool old trunk. I take it the sea wind twisted it so while it was alive?

I don't know if this happened to this tree, but I've known of two trees where lightnig had hit it and it cork screwed down the tree like this... one of the trees was on my Mom's property in the mountains, It was the tallest tree and it was taken down cause were were building her cabin - which her cabin didn't go there and she regreted taking it down shortly afterward.... the other tree was two doors down from where I was raised. My Nieghbor was out on her covered porch and the lightning hit about 60 feet from her and threw here about 10ft... the lightning just took the bark off and the underneith was a clean colored yellow wood.

Reminds me of the wind-tortured long-lived cedars on mountain tops and windy ridges. =)
